Elmira, N.Y., April 16--Earlier today at the Elmira Holiday Inn-Riverview, State Senator Tom O'Mara (R,C-Big Flats) helped celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Elmira Chapter 276 of the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP).
The senator presented the group with a Legislative Resolution he sponsored in the Senate to mark the milestone, which was unanimously adopted by the full Senate on February 4, 2014.
The resolution reads, in part, "Elmira AARP Chapter 276 is a proud and vital part of New York State's 2.7 million AARP members. For 50 years, this vibrant organization has worked unceasingly to make the lives of all seniors more secure, protected and meaningful...Elmira AARP Chapter 276 is respected and admired throughout the community for its work; the organization is involved in various community service activities, and are effective policy advocates at forums and town hall meetings...The accomplishments of the Elmira AARP Chapter 276 are in direct correlation to the efforts of its dedicated members whose involvement is and has been characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the organization and the people it serves."
