Bayside, NY—Senator Toby Ann Stavisky (D-Flushing) joined Congresswoman Grace Meng (D-Queens), Assemblywoman Nily Rozic (D-Oakland Gardens), Councilmember Mark Weprin (D-Oakland Gardens) and Comptroller Scott Stringer at a ceremony at PS 46Q to celebrate the school’s 2013 National Blue Ribbon Award.

The Blue Ribbon Award is a distinction given by the U.S. Department of Education to schools where students perform at very high levels or where student achievement has dramatically improved. Across the country, 286 schools received the award.

“We are proud to be here to celebrate the hard work of the students, teachers and administration of PS 46Q. Your energy and enthusiasm for education is clear and is a model for what all schools across New York should be like. While a lot of attention has been focused recently on early childhood education, it should not take away from the importance of an exceptional elementary, middle and high school education. PS 46Q exemplifies that excellence -- and it’s thanks to your dedication and commitment to learning,” said the elected officials.
