(New York City - October 8th) Climate change is a real concern that New York State is taking the lead on. Senator Stewart-Cousins, the Senate Democratic Leader, joined Governor Cuomo and former Vice President Al Gore as they signed a pledge to combat climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in New York State. The Governor announced he will sign the Under 2 Memorandum of Understanding, which commits New York State to a global effort to keep the earth’s average temperature from rising two degrees Celsius from the pre-industrial level benchmark. Senator Stewart-Cousins said, "The reality is, research shows that climate change is occurring, and now is the time to act. We must address ways to reduce our carbon footprint and take steps to protect our environment, in order to preserve the beauty of our state and the world, for the next generation and beyond."
