Senator Stewart-Cousins Supports State Programs To Help Families Facing Foreclosures

(White Plains - August 6th) Nearly 50,000 thousand struggling families in New York State, including 6,800 right here in the Hudson Valley, are getting the help they need to stay in their homes. Through her District Office, Senator Stewart-Cousins has provided countless hours of counseling and assistance to families who live in her Senate District, some of whom fell victim to unscrupulous lenders and are or were facing foreclosure. On August 6th, as Leader of the Senate Democratic Conference, the Senator joined her partner in government, Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, to highlight the success of the state's efforts following the bursting of the sub-prime mortgage bubble. The Attorney General's Office has several programs that can assist a homeowners with their mortgages or loans including legal assistance. Senator Stewart-Cousins has made it a priority to protect New Yorkers and ensure that they have access to legitimate housing programs, legal services, loans, mortgage modifications, and scam alerts in order to locate reputable and ethical lenders.
