(Irvington - January 29th) Senator Stewart-Cousins attended the screening of the documentary film "She's Beautiful When She's Angry" on January 29th. Directed by Mary Dore who discussed the lengthy project that chronicles the start of the women's movement in this country, the documentary interviews 38 female pioneers in the fight for gender equality including Muriel Fox, who co-founded the National Organization for Women and is a Westchester resident. As the saying goes, "We've come a long way, baby, yet the fight for reproductive health rights and equal pay continues today, including here in New York."
The Senator was pleasantly surprised to see a group of high school students from Irvington in attendance, as it gave them the opportunity to see how women before them helped change the lives and opportunities they will have today. If you are interested in seeing the film, it will be playing at the Jacob Burns Center in Pleasantville next month.
