State aid in support of libraries was the focus of a meeting with Senator Betty Little in Albany on Wednesday, February 25. With work continuing on the state budget, librarians and trustees representing the Southern Adirondack and Northern New York Library Systems made the case for increased aid, noting that library aid is currently $86.6 million annually, about $16 million short of what is required by New York State Education Law. According to a January 2015 Siena Poll, library usage is up 10 percent statewide the past year.
