The NYC Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) is encouraging New Yorkers this year to take advantage of the many tax credits, like the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and the Child Care Tax Credit when filing their tax returns. These credits, which can be worth up to $10,000, can be the largest lump sum New Yorkers receive in a year, and too many eligible working New Yorkers aren’t claiming these credits because they simply don’t know about them. There are now over 200 sites across the five boroughs where New Yorkers can file their taxes for free. For more information on how to file your taxes for free you can visit www.nyc.gov/taxprep, call 311 or see the letter from DCA Commissioner Menin attached.
