My Letter to the NYS Liquor Authority Urging Denial of Liquor License for Greenhouse
Brad Hoylman
March 25, 2015
On March 10, the New York State Liquor Authority (SLA) voted to deny the liquor license renewal application for 150 RFT Varick Corp, the nightclub at 150 Varick Street formerly known as Greenhouse. I’m very pleased the SLA has decided to once and for all deny a liquor license to this disruptive and dangerous nightclub. This establishment’s violent culture, along with its excessive noise and litter regularly interfered with the lives of too many of my constituents and while Greenhouse closed in April of 2014, this decision means that the surrounding community can rest knowing it will not return. Thank you to Manhattan Community Board 2, the Charlton Street Block Association, the Vandam Street Block Association, Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer, Assembly Member Deborah Glick and Council Member Corey Johnson for working alongside me to once and for all address this issue. Please see our joint letter to the NYS Liquor Authority attached.
