I was pleased to join the launch of Code Brooklyn with colleagues, advocates, educators, and students at PS/MS 282 this afternoon. Getting our community's youth ready for 21st century jobs means providing a broad education that includes computer science. It means introducing skills and career opportunities that did not exist 20 or 30 years ago. And it means ensuring every young person who harbors information technology ambitions receives the education they need to pursue their dream. The Code Brooklyn initiative and upcoming “Hour of Code” serve as part of this important work - allowing students across Brooklyn to pursue the motto of PS/MS 282: "Dream. Believe. Excel. Achieve."
