My heart goes out to all the victims of violence, near and far. While we mourn San Bernadino, my prayers also go out to Playwright David Henry Hwang, who was stabbed in Fort Greene, and to the families surviving the murders of Dupris Moore, Dupree Dunbar, and Robert Hinton.
In October I had the honor of giving an award to Parys Johnson, a Brownsville educator and the mother of Robert Hinton. I will continue to honor her dedication to the community.
May we fix the tear in our hearts with prayer and service to others.
