(Brooklyn, NY - August 20, 2015) NYS Sen. Jesse Hamilton gave community residents at a Trans-Pacific Partnership Forum a preview of a letter to the NYS congressional delegation he is spearheading on the twelve nation, Pacific Rim trade agreement. The letter from New York State legislators expresses deep concerns about the trade agreement, echoing concerns raised by many of the legislators and advocates in attendance at the TPP Forum this evening. Participants in the forum, held in Park Slope, included US Rep. Yvette Clarke, a representative from US Rep. Nydia Velázquez, NYS Sen. Velmanette Montgomery, and NYS Assembly Member Jo Anne Simon. Groups represented at the forum included the Sierra Club, Food and Water Watch, the Central Labor Council (AFL-CIO), the National Lawyers Guild, Brooklyn for Peace, TradeJustice Metro NYC, and the Park Slope Food Coop International Trade Education Squad.
