State Senator John A. DeFrancisco is pictured on the Senate Floor with Yonkers native Patrick Quinn, co-creator of the Ice Bucket Challenge.
The Ice Bucket Challenge, which went viral in the summer of 2014, generated nationwide awareness and raised millions of dollars toward research of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, better known as ALS. On March 3, 2015, the New York State Senate passed a Resolution to honor Mr. Quinn for his notable advocacy efforts. Mr. Quinn was diagnosed with ALS in 2013.
The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge encourages nominated participants to be filmed having a bucket of ice water poured on their heads and then nominating others to do the same.
