Today, March 18, Senator Bonacic participated in a health screening, in Albany, hosted by the Northeast Kidney Foundation. The kidney health screening is free and serves as an early intervention program that identifies individuals at increased risk for kidney disease and those who are in early stages of the disease. It is vitally important to take advantage of free screenings like this, because, if caught early, the progression of kidney disease can be slowed dramatically. Chronic kidney disease affects 26 million nationwide, with 59% of our population at risk. Anyone with diabetes, high blood pressure or a family history of kidney disease is at risk and should get their kidneys tested.
