This past Saturday Senator Bonacic took in a spectacular day of football as the Army Black Knights took on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons at Michie Stadium at the United States Military Academy at West Point. West Point provides one of the most picturesque settings in the country to watch a college football game, and Michie Stadium, situated on the banks of the Hudson River, is perfect place to watch “America’s Team”
A football Saturday at West Point is more than just football. Game day’s are rich in tradition, which includes, among others, the cadet review on the “The Plain” Prior to the start of every home game, the cadets will march as a body on the grounds in front of Thayer Hall on campus. As part of this tradition, the US Army Parachute Team, nicknamed the “Golden Knights” will parachute on to The Plain, the American and POW/MIA flags flowing behind them. Prior to the start of the game, the Golden Knights parachuted on to the field and delivered the game ball to the referee.
