Suspected Shelter Rallies Community
August 13, 2015
Senator Comrie joined Hollis residents in rallying against any proposal for a homeless shelter for six newly refurbished eight family apartment buildings located along Hollis Ave. from 202 to 204 street. Although no official moves have been made, residents have witnessed bunk beds being quietly moved inside, and fear that the two-block stretch of apartments may be converted into shelters in a neighborhood already oversaturated with support facilities. Senator Comrie and Council Member I. Daneek Miller have been in talks with the developer to mediate any changes, and are working to keep the community abreast of developments as soon as they occur.
