Martin Malavé Dilan
March 25, 2015
Senator Dilan spoke to Transit Workers Union Local 100 members during their annual lobby day yesterday. As budget negotiations continue in Albany, Senator Dilan stressed the importance of committing to the city’s transit infrastructure this year.
As it stands, proposed capital funding leaves the MTA $15 billion short of its needs to complete planned improvements and expansion. Ridership continues to increase throughout the city, with an estimated 8.7 million riders per week. Commuters, especially in Senate District 18, have reported overcrowded platforms with long delays and frequent break downs.
