Senator Dilan was proud to offer his support of Mayor Bill de Blasio and Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito’s launch of New York City’s Municipal Identification program, IDNYC.

“No one should be unable to have full and equal access to New York City’s cultural institutions and amenities because they lack identification. However, the ability to fully enjoy and participate in the many unique experiences that this city embodies is a small part of what this new ID means for many New Yorkers, undocumented or not. The many opportunities that it offers, from access to business and personal capital, greater access to City agencies, and vital health care resources, will have a profound impact on our immigrant communities. I commend Mayor de Blasio for his vision and leadership on this issue, and thank the many cultural and financial institutions that helped make it a reality.”

Beside access and discounts to New York City’s many cultural institutions, the IDNYC card will be integrated into New York City’s official prescription drug discount card, BigAppleRx, giving card holders up to 50 percent off most FDA-approved prescription medications at more than 2,000 New York City pharmacies. It will also be accepted as valid primary identification for opening bank or credit union accounts at more than 10 financial institutions.
