Senator Dilan, Colleagues Press Consideration of Important Bills Before Close of Session

Martin Malavé Dilan

April 27, 2015

Today Senator Dilan and colleagues spurred the legislative process in an effort to advance proposals to enact ethic reforms, fair farm labor practices and a livable local wage.

Motions for committee consideration were heard today for each of the Democratic Conference-supported bills, including: S.60 to close a loophole which currently allows LLCs to contribute vast sums of money to state candidates; S. 1291 to grant collective bargaining rights, workers' compensation, unemployment benefits and a mandated day off to New York farmworkers; and S. 2221 that would allow municipalities, including NYC, to increase the minimum wage beyond the current standard.

This procedural move forces consideration and a vote for bills in committee. Senator Dilan was proud to support each of these important measures and will continue to push for their enactment as session progresses.
