New York State Senator Michael Venditto, (R, C, I- Massapequa) recently attended the Wantagh American Legion Post as they honored the Four Chaplains, heroes of WWII. Seventy two years ago these four men of faith made the supreme sacrifice by giving up their lives so that many other soldiers and sailors could live. They gave their life jackets to others and stayed behind to comfort the hundreds of servicemen who perished in the sinking of the Troopship Dorchester in the freezing waters off Newfoundland during WWII. The ceremony was a fitting tribute to four brave souls from the Greatest Generation.
