New York State Senator Michael Venditto, (R, C, I- Massapequa) joined with the Farmingdale Community and the Long Island Republic Airport Historical Society for a dedication ceremony of a Roadside Marker honoring the tens of thousands of men and women who built over 9,000 durable and reliable P-47 Thunderbolt fighters for Republic Aviation in East Farmingdale from 1942 to 1945. Senator Venditto, pictured above left, helped Josephine Rachiele, above center, 91, of West Babylon, a P-47 riveter and one of the last living workers from the factory the cut the shroud off the marker.
