Senator Venditto Joins Forces With Parents for Megan’s Law and Local Leaders to Call on Assembly Passage to Restore Local Sex Offender Residency Restrictions

New York State Senator Michael Venditto, (R, C, I- Massapequa) held a press conference in partnership with Laura Ahern, Director of Parents for Megan’s Law, his partners in Government in the State Assembly and a bi-partisan group of members from the Nassau and Suffolk County Legislature to call on Assembly passage of Senator Venditto's bill to reverse the NY Court of Appeals incorrect ruling which threw out local sex offender residency restrictions.

"In February, the State Senate passed my bill (S.3925/A.5812) which is sponsored in the Assembly by Assemblyman Ra in response to the New York State Court of Appeals case that struck down the Nassau County residency restrictions for sex offenders. Our local governments, such as our towns and villages should have the authority to restrict sex offender residency in their home communities. They know their hometowns better than anyone else. Thanks to our local government officials and Parents for Megan’s Law for demanding the Assembly take action", said Senator Venditto.
