Electricians' union seeks to fill 50 apprenticeships

The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for the Electrical Industry of Nassau and Suffolk Counties will begin taking applications Wednesday for 50 apprenticeships.
The committee is looking for 40 electrician apprentices, five residential electrician apprentices and five electrical maintenance technician apprentices. Applications are due by noon, Dec. 16.
Applications can be obtained in person from the committee's office at 370 Motor Pkwy. in Hauppauge, from 10 a.m. to noon on the first and third Wednesdays of each month, excluding legal holidays. They also must be submitted in person.
Applicants should be 18 or older, live on Long Island, provide proof of completion of high school or GED courses and one year of elementary algebra, NYS Math I or freshman high school Regents math; pass a drug test, physical exam and aptitude test; have reliable transportation and participate in an interview.
