'It's a big win for Tioga Downs'

Elmira, N.Y., October 14—State Senator Tom O’Mara (R,C,I-Big Flats) released the following statement on today’s decision by the state’s Gaming Facility Location Board to award a full casino license to Tioga Downs in Nichols:

“It’s a long-awaited, positive decision for the Southern Tier.  I have strongly believed that Jeff Gural and everyone at Tioga Downs put a winning hand on the table in keeping with the state’s overriding goal to locate new casinos where they are most needed.  A new and expanded Tioga Downs will bolster one of the state’s most struggling regional economies.  It will preserve important livelihoods for hundreds of workers, create new jobs, and generate badly needed revenue to provide additional support for education and local governments and to help ease the burden on local property taxpayers.”
