Thank you, Bed-Stuy Brownstoners!

On Saturday, October 17, 2015, I was able to spend some time with a wonderful group who have been central to the renaissance Bedford Stuyvesant is now enjoying...the Bed-Stuy Brownstoners.
The Brownstoners are long time and new residents of Bedford Stuyvesant who have invested their time and money in preserving and restoring the amazing collection of brownstone homes found in the area. The buildings go back many decades, some more than a century, and have weathered the years but sometimes shown the wear. There was a period where there was actually pressure to tear them down to build more modern buildings! Without the devotion of these individuals to protect and restore what I consider a great Brooklyn treasure we wouldn't have the amazing architecture we get to enjoy every day.
The Brownstoners are a formal organization devoted to protecting and restoring these buildings, and once a year they sponsor a tour that includes many of these remarkable homes. On behalf of all Brooklyn, I sincerely thank you!
