Heading into Fall
September 22, 2016
Dear Friend,
I hope you enjoyed your Summer and are doing well as Fall begins. My thoughts are with those injured in this past weekend’s attack in Chelsea, and I thank our first responders and emergency personnel for their ongoing work.
I wanted to share a few issues I’ve been working on in the community. If you’re looking for more updates, please follow me on Twitter and Facebook.
- Small businesses are a path to opportunity and cornerstones in our communities. My bill to support small businesses is now law, so the state does more to help.
- I was honored to receive an Our Town Thanks You award from Our Town Downtown, which covered some of the work we’re doing together in Lower Manhattan.
- I spoke to Consequence of Sound for their documentary on our broken ticket reselling laws, which I've long pushed to fix.
- Every year, I circulate Parent and Senior Resource Guides with great resources available in the district. See my Parent Guide, Senior Guide, or contact my office for a copy.
- Brooklyn Bridge Park’s pop-up pool made a splash in our community -- that's why I organized to keep it open, along with community members and colleagues, including a report detailing its importance to our community. Sign the petition online.
- I’m continuing my efforts to ensure public access to police body camera footage because police body cameras have the potential to protect everyone involved -- officer and civilian alike -- if their promise of added transparency is realized.
- I submitted testimony on the progress, and challenges, still facing public housing (NYCHA), and the potential for improvements.
And remember, you can always contact my office at 212-298-5565, 718-875-1517, or squadron@nysenate.gov.
Best,
Daniel
