Community Members Share Ideas in 13 Discussion Groups
STATE SENATE DISTRICT 26 – Sunday, State Senator Daniel Squadron hosted hundreds of community members at his eighth annual Community Convention. With a keynote speech by City Transportation Commissioner Trottenberg, Squadron’s Convention gathered residents from across his district to discuss issues of importance ranging from streets and transportation, to affordability and Albany ethics reform.
“The Community Convention sets the foundation to help make today's impossible the future's reality,” said State Senator Daniel Squadron. “It’s one opportunity to hear from people throughout the district, and share ideas. Whether it’s a pothole, a school’s need for a crossing guard, a vision for storm resiliency, or identifying a need to change state law, the Convention is an opportunity to begin engagement and change. Thank you to all community members who participated in the Convention, as well as Commissioner Trottenberg, Congressmember Nadler, City Comptroller Stringer, Manhattan Borough President Brewer, and Assemblymembers Kavanagh and Simon. I look forward to continuing the conversation!”
Squadron’s Community Convention was also attended by Congressmember Nadler, City Comptroller Stringer, Manhattan Borough President Brewer, and Assemblymembers Kavanagh and Simon. Participants shared ideas throughout 13 different moderated break-out groups, including a Chinese-language group. Squadron will use feedback from the Convention to help shape and inform local and legislative priorities throughout the year.
