Squadron Statement on Ticket Reform Bill Becoming Law

NEW YORK – State Senator Daniel Squadron released the following statement on last night’s ticket reform bill becoming law:

“Last night, a bill I pushed in a bipartisan partnership with Senator Lanza to crack down on ticket reselling bots that take advantage of fans became law. Thanks to Senator Lanza, Attorney General Schneiderman and Assemblymember Crespo for working together on this important reform.

“This bill is an important step in my longstanding push to fix a broken ticket reselling law that hurts fans and helps profiteers. We have seen that when it's fan versus machine, fans never win. Now, Albany must do more -- not be Unfaithful. After nearly a decade of being ignored, fans could cry: ‘We both know, Where Albany’s about to go, And we know it very well.’ Hopefully the Governor's promised task force on ticket reselling will take on the industries that have protected the unfair status quo, instead of again leaving fans without a seat.

“Since being one of two ‘no’ votes to extending the current ticket law in 2010, I have continued to push for reform, and I sponsor a number of ticket reform measures, including increased transparency (S.192) and a ban on charity ticket profiteering (S.571), that must be considered.”
