Statement From State Senator Gustavo Rivera On The Decision To Acquit Officer Edward Nero Of All Charges In The Death Of Freddie Gray
May 23, 2016
"Once again, our country’s unequal justice system has disturbingly failed our communities of color. The decision taken earlier today by Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Barry Williams to acquit officer Edward Nero of all charges in the death of Freddie Gray is simply outrageous and inexplicable. Another young life that has been taken away in such a violent way, another life that will not find proper justice as no one will be held accountable.
While this is beyond disheartening, we need to remain committed to continue the fight to reform the criminal justice system so that it truly serves every single American in a equal and fair manner."
