Statement from State Senator Gustavo Rivera on the Passing of Doctor Roscoe C. Brown, Jr.

"I am profoundly saddened by the passing of Dr. Roscoe C. Brown, Jr. Not only did he serve his country as a member of the historic Tuskegee Airmen, but he also dedicated his life after military service to educating our youth, including serving as president of Bronx Community College for 17 years. Furthermore, he dedicated his life to building a healthier Bronx by founding Run the Bronx, an event that has grown into a yearly tradition in our great borough. Dr. Brown's groundbreaking work made him a unique role model who dared to break rules in the name of justice, equality and community. His death represents a great loss for our city, our state and our country. He will be deeply missed."
