Statement from State Senator Gustavo Rivera on the Passing of Former State Senator Tom Libous

“I am truly saddened by the passing of my former colleague, State Senator Tom Libous. Even though Tom and I sat on opposite sides of the Senate and disagreed on basically every issue, I learned an invaluable lesson from him: that respect across the aisle was neither a fiction nor a fallacy and that as public servants, we should always strive to make government work. I will sincerely miss Senator Libous' intelligence, his sense of humor, and his passion for public service. My thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones in this trying time."
