As a way to honor and recognize the service and sacrifice of its residents who served in the armed forces, New York State offers several military awards to veterans who currently live in New York State or who were New York State residents at the time of their military service, including:
- New York State Conspicuous Service Cross
- New York State Medal for Merit
- New York State Conspicuous Service Star
- New York State Cold War Recognition Certificate
Eligibility for these awards is based on the applicant’s military service record. Applications and a complete list of eligibility criteria can be obtained by clicking the links above or by calling Senator Seward's office at 607-432-5524.
These honors can be awarded posthumously to the family of a deceased veteran.
