Towards a World Without Alzheimer's Disease

Really pleased my Director of Community Affairs, Raul Rothblatt, had a chance to have a productive meeting with the Alzheimer's Association this past Friday. Their mission, "a world without Alzheimer's disease," is all the more urgent given the U.S. has an aging population and the fact that health care disparities have particularly negative impacts on communities of color. For instance, the Alzheimer's Association reports, "[African-Americans] are two times more likely to develop late-onset Alzheimer's disease than whites and less likely to have a diagnosis of their condition, resulting in less time for treatment and planning." We need to do all we can in support of caregivers, community groups, advocates, and researchers to make that vision of a world without Alzheimer's disease a reality.
