Senator Bonacic Announces $100,000 Grant for the Town of Warwick for Repairs to the Jayne Street Bridge
January 29, 2016
(Middletown, NY)-Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt. Hope) is pleased to announce that he has secured a $100,000 grant for the Town of Warwick for the repair of the Town-owned Jayne Street Bridge over Millers Creek within the Village of Florida. The bridge has deteriorated significantly over the years, to the point that is has been “red flagged” by the NYS Department of Transportation. The funds for the project were secured through the State Municipal Grant Program.
“A project like this serves multiple purposes,” said Senator Bonacic. “Not only will it save the Town of Warwick taxpayers money, but will also ensure motorist safety.”
“Under the 2% tax cap it has become difficult for municipalities to budget for all its infrastructure needs, but thanks to the efforts of Senator Bonacic the Town will be able to use these grant funds to make this sorely needed repair to the Jayne Street Bridge. The Senator has once again helped our Town by returning tax dollars to vital projects,” said Warwick Town Supervisor Michael Sweeton.
