(Middletown, NY)-Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt. Hope) is pleased to announce that he has secured a $50,000 grant for the Town of Wawayanda for the purchase of a plow truck for the Highway Department. The grant was secured through the State Municipal Grant Program, money for which was appropriated in the 2015-2016 State Budget.
“I’m pleased to secure this grant for Town of Wawayanda’s Highway Department, which will help them better serve their residents,” said Senator Bonacic. “These funds will improve operations at the Highway Department, and save the taxpayers’ money.”
“The Town of Wawayanda appreciates Senator Bonacic’s commitment to the Town,” said Town of Wawayanda Supervisor John Razzano. “The $50,000 grant will help defer the cost of a new 2016 Tandem Freightliner truck with snow plow. The Town strives to upgrade our fleet to ensure the roads in our Town are safe and can properly maintained. Over the years Senator Bonacic has provided us with invaluable funding for various projects within the Town.”
“One of the basic responsibilities of local government is to ensure that residents have safe roads to travel on,” said Orange County Legislator Melissa Bonacic, who represents the Town of Wawayanda. “I’m pleased that Senator Bonacic is providing this grant to the Town for the purchase of a snow plow, and know that it will go a long way towards protecting the residents on snowy days.”
