Senator Bonacic Announces $50,000 for the Town of Bethel
October 7, 2016
(Middletown, NY)- State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt. Hope) is pleased to announce that the Town of Bethel has been awarded a $50,000 grant to help with the construction of a new salt barn for the Town Highway Department. The grant was secured through the State Municipal Grant Program, funding for which was appropriated in the 2016-2017 State Budget.
The current salt barn utilized by the Highway Department is deteriorating. The health, safety, and welfare of the Highway Department employees are compromised by remaining in the current facility.
“The individuals who work for Town of Bethel Highway Department deserve to have a safe, efficient facility,” said Senator Bonacic. “This grant will ensure that the Highway Department can continue to effectively serve the Town’s residents. It will save the local taxpayers money.”
Town of Bethel Supervisor Daniel Sturm said, “The Town of Bethel is always grateful for the support provided by Senator Bonacic, and this grant will go a long way towards improving the great service that is already provided by our Highway Department.”
