Senator Bonacic Announces Support for Proposed Legoland park in the Town of Goshen

(Middletown, NY)-Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt. Hope) announced today his support for the proposed Legoland Park in the Town of Goshen, contingent on issues related to water, sewer and traffic are resolved. The proposed park in Goshen would be Legoland’s third park in North America, behind California and Florida, and it would also join Legoland’s 5 locations worldwide.  The proposal for Legoland  Park in Goshen includes a theme park offering a unique mix of more than 50 rides, shows and attractions, including spectacular LEGO models and a 250-room Legoland Hotel. The theme park will be geared toward families with children ages 2 to 12.

“I’m pleased to support the project, as long as the issues focused on water, sewer, and traffic are resolved, and would urge others to do so as well,” said Senator Bonacic. “This proposed Legoland Park will have tremendous economic benefits for the Town of Goshen, and Orange County as a whole. The project will provide 800 construction jobs, as well as 500 permanent jobs when completed, and revenues from the park will go towards the Goshen Central School District.”

Legoland’s initial investment prior to opening day will cost $350 million and by year five the investment is expected to reach $500 million. Over the course of 30 years, Legoland will pay $52.6 million in PILOT payments alone, of which $38.4 million will go to the Goshen Central School District. Sales tax receipts would generate approximately an additional $5 million annually.
