(Albany, NY)-Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt. Hope) met today with members of the International Union of Elevator Constructors, and members of the National Elevator Industry Program (NEIEP), who were in Albany to lobby members of the legislature to pass Senator’s Bonacic’s bill, S.1945, which would require anyone who is engaged in the design, construction, operation, inspection, maintenance, or repair of an elevator be licensed. Currently, there are no licensing requirements for anyone working on an elevator. As of now, S.1945 has 44 co-sponsors. In the interest of public safety, it is critically important that this bill gets passed this session.
