(Albany, NY)-Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt. Hope) was pleased to welcome a contingent of Correction Officer’s from Shawangunk Correctional Facility, located in the Hamlet of Wallkill, to his Albany office today. The officers were in Albany as part of the annual NYS Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association (NYSCOPBA) Lobby Day. The meeting focused on issues currently faced by the Correction Officers, as well as NYSCOPBA’s legislative priorities. The Officers also thanked Senator Bonacic for his sponsorship of S.1900, which passed the Senate. It would amend section 240.32 of the Penal Law by adding saliva to the already existing list of fluids and adds intentionally expectorating to the list of actions. S1900 would provide that such behavior would be classified as aggravated harassment of an employee.
