Senator Bonacic Meets with Stakeholders to Discuss the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail Trestle Project in New Paltz

(Middletown, NY)- State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt. Hope) met today in his Middletown district office with Ulster County Legislators’ Jim Delaune and Hector Rodriguez, as well as Wallkill Valley Land Trust Executive Director Christie DeBoer to discuss the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail Trestle Project in the Town of New Paltz. The Rail Trail is a 22+ mile park traversing Ulster County and is open year-round for hikers, walkers, bicyclists and cross-country skiers. Currently, a trestle located in the Town of New Paltz that traverses the Wallkill River has deteriorated to the point that is now closed. The meeting today focused on efforts to help find state money to repair the trestle and re-open up the full 22+ miles of the trail.
