Senator Bonacic Secures $50,000 Grant for the Town of Shawangunk
October 17, 2016
(Middletown, NY)- State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt. Hope) is pleased to announce that he has secured a $50,000 grant for the Town of Shawangunk to help with the purchase of a new plow truck for the Highway Department. The grant was secured through the State and Municipal Grant Program, funding for which was made available as part of the 2016-2017 State Budget.
Earlier this year, the Highway Department was in the process of reconstructing one of the major roads in the Town when the old snow plow/dump truck flipped over as the trucks dump body was in the raised position. The truck was declared a total loss.
“I am pleased to provide this grant to the Town of Shawangunk for the purchase of a new plow truck,” said Senator Bonacic. “This grant will improve operations at the Highway Department, and also save the Town’s taxpayers money.”
Said Town of Shawangunk Supervisor John Valk, Jr., “Our highway department truck was severely damaged this July while reconstructing one of our roads. Since a new truck was not in the equipment replacement plan, these funds will assist us in the untimely purchase of a new truck”
