(Middletown, NY)- State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt. Hope) is pleased to announce that he has secured a $50,000 grant for the Village of Walton for improvements to its wastewater treatment plant. The grant was secured through the State and Municipal Grant Program, funding for which was appropriated in the 2016-2017 State Budget.
Specifically, the grant will assist in paying for the replacement of a grit removal conveyor at the Village’s wastewater treatment plant. This is a vital piece of equipment which provides initial treatment to remove debris and prevent damage and excessive wear of equipment downstream in the treatment process. An existing conveyor has been in place for over 15 years, has exceeded its useful life, and requires replacement.
“The Village of Walton’s wastewater treatment plant is a critical piece of infrastructure, and I am pleased to provide this grant to help fix it,” said Senator Bonacic. “Not only will this grant improve the Village’s infrastructure, it will save the taxpayers money.”
Said Village of Walton Mayor Ed Snow, “I want to thank Senator Bonacic for his continued support of the Village of Walton. This grant will go a long way towards improving the operations at our wastewater treatment plant.”
