Senator O'Mara and Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo (D-Endwell) were interviewed by host Liz Benjamin on last night's edition of Time Warrner Cable's Capital Tonight. They discussed their landmark legislation, signed into law on Tuesday by Governor Andrew Cuomo, making New York the first state in the nation to require the testing of school drinking water systems for lead contamination.
O'Mara and Lupardo developed and introduced the legislation earlier this year in light of incidents at schools within their own legislative districts, as well as other high-profile cases statewide and nationally. They joined a coalition of public health, environmental and healthy schools advocates to push the law's enactment this session.
