O’Mara congratulates local graduates of 204th Session of NYS Police Academy Basic School ~ O’Mara calls new State Troopers ‘source of enormous pride’ to region

What a well-earned tribute to the hard work and commitment of our new New York State Troopers, and what a source of enormous pride they are for their family, friends, neighbors and the Southern Tier and Fingers Lakes regions. Their graduation is the highest tribute to their courage and willingness to sacrifice to protect the safety and well-being of others – the truest hallmarks of a New York State Trooper.

Elmira, N.Y., October 13—State Senator Tom O’Mara (R,C,I-Big Flats) today congratulated all of the 226 graduates from the 204th session of the New York State Police Academy's Basic School and singled out for special recognition the seven graduates from the following hometowns within his 58th Senate District: Corning, Elmira, Horseheads, Ithaca, Newfield, Penn Yan and  Watkins  Glen.

The graduation ceremony was held earlier today at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center in Albany.

“What a well-earned tribute to the hard work and commitment of our new New York State Troopers, and what a source of enormous pride they are for their family, friends, neighbors and the Southern Tier and Fingers Lakes regions,” said O’Mara.  “They and all of their fellow graduates will serve all New Yorkers as proud members of the New York State Police which is revered and respected as one of the world’s finest law enforcement agencies.  Their graduation is the highest tribute to their courage and willingness to sacrifice to protect the safety and well-being of others – the truest hallmarks of a New York State Trooper.”

New York State Police Superintendent George P. Beach II said, "After months of training, the 204th Basic School join the ranks of one of the finest police agencies in the world.  For nearly 100 years the State Police have served and protected the citizens of New York. I congratulate all of our new Troopers and thank them for their continued dedication to the State Police and the people of New York."

O’Mara congratulated and praised the following local graduates among the newest members of the New York State Police (listed below followed by their hometowns and the Troops to which they will be initially assigned for field training):

> Mark A. Ciccotti of Horseheads (Troop B—Plattsburgh);

> James D. Dew of Ithaca (Troop B—Plattsburgh);

> Taylor A. McCarthy of Watkins Glen (Troop B—Plattsburgh);

> Kyle J. Meyers of Penn Yan (Troop D—Oneida);

> Jevon C. Pakkala of Newfield (Troop B—Plattsburgh);

> Aaron D. Quinitchett of Elmira (Troop B—Plattsburgh); and

> Adam T. Vargeson of Corning (Troop B—Plattsburgh).
