Senator O'Mara and Assemblyman Palmesano recently met with Yates County legislators to discuss local concerns and challenges.

Topics discussed included the new state budget and other fiscal concerns, unfunded state mandates, local infrastructure, and the heroin crisis.

Earlier this week, Senator O'Mara and Assemblyman Phil Palmesano (R,C,I-Corning) met with members of the Yates County Legislature and other county officials to discuss a range of topics, including the new state budget, mandate relief, local infrastructure, and the heroin crisis.

I was highly critical of Governor Cuomo for vetoing a plan to achieve this very same mandate relief in 2016. So I look forward to seeing the governor’s plan and enacting a law this year to get county governments and local property taxpayers out from under this unfunded state mandate. It would mark a significant mandate relief action.
