The New York State Senate Task Force on Workforce Development, on which Senator O'Mara serves as a member, was created early last year and has held public forums and worked in other ways to address this critical challenge and answer key questions, including this one: Are we doing enough in New York State to assist, develop and encourage locally centered workforce development action plans?
At a series of public forums over the past year, the task force has solicited input from leaders in business, education, and state and local governments, as well as other workforce experts, to explore better processes to connect workers with regional employment needs.
The preliminary report identifies the broad challenges that need to be addressed and offers an immediate set of recommendations for legislative action.
