Senator Montgomery met with a group of millennial constituents to learn more about their concerns and the issues important to them. The diverse group included students from Columbia University, a community organizer working for a non-profit organization and an advocate serving on a local community board.
The issues discussed included Raise the Age and criminal justice reform, police reform, affordable housing, education as well as how to effectively engage young people and future generations in the political process. The group also offered suggestions for new legislation and discussed their legislative priorities for the 2017-2018 Legislative Session.
During the meeting, Senator Montgomery expressed her pride in their involvement in community organizing, their devotion to public service and their eagerness to pursue lasting policy changes.
