Dear Neighbor,
Happy New Year! Tonight is the first night of Rosh Hashanah, the night our Jewish sisters and brothers will be dipping apples in honey and greeting each other with “L’Shanah Tovah,” a wish for a sweet and good year.
Much like January 1st, Rosh Hashanah is an opportunity to review our past and plan for our future. To accept what has happened and to commit to do better. The sound of the Shofar, a ram’s horn ritualistically blown on Rosh Hashanah, calls us together to recommit to our values, our community, and to each other.
To all my Jewish friends – enjoy your celebration. I look forward to facing the coming year’s joys and challenges with you by my side and a fresh sense of resolve.
L’Shanah Tovah,
