31 State Senators Have Officially Signed On as Co-Sponsors of the New York Health Act

(Albany, NY) - State Senator Gustavo Rivera, the sponsor of the New York Health Act and the Ranker of the New York State Senate Health Committee, released the following the statement after State Senator Brian Benjamin became the 31st State Senator to sign on as a co-sponsor of S. 4840. The New York Health Act would establish a universal single payer health plan to provide all New Yorkers with comprehensive health coverage. Since Senator Rivera became the main sponsor of the New York Health Act in March 2018, 10 additional Senators have signed on as co-sponsors to the legislation, bringing the total number of Senator who support the measure to 31.
"I am elated to have Senator Benjamin joining the fight to secure health care for all New Yorkers. The momentum the New York Health Act has received in the last few months reflects the need there is across our state to both protect and expand access to quality and affordable health care coverage in New York State, especially given the threats from the federal government to repeal the ACA," said State Senator Gustavo Rivera. "I am committed to continue the work to gather the support needed in the State Senate to make health care for all a reality in New York State."
