"It is outrageous and utterly shameful that this administration has continued its hateful attack against our country's immigrant communities by signing an executive order that will effectively block federal grants to cities across the country, including New York City, that provide sanctuary to millions of immigrants. Historically, New York City has welcomed immigrant communities and has represented a symbol of hope to the millions of people from around the world that have arrived to its shore seeking a better life for themselves and their families. Let's be clear; immigrants have and continue to contribute to the economic, social, and cultural life of our City, our State and our country. This measure is a frontal attack to the core values that our City has embraced and defended for generations and we will not stand idly by while this administration irresponsibly threatens our City's communities and its financial stability."
