Thanks to John Jay College of Criminal Justice’s “From Punishment to Public Health” initiative, the Legal Action Center, the Drug Policy Alliance, and all the participants in the conference on “Health and Harm Reduction in the Correctional Setting.” Really constructive panel discussions explored important public health issues at the intersection of incarceration, community health, and humane public policy. It is critical that clinicians, advocates, educators, and justice-involved individuals have a voice in shaping our approach to these issues. The policy that results will be wiser when it is inclusive and informed by their insights.
